Frequently Asked Questions
WÜL, pronounced "wool", was given its name to pay homage to all the different shapes that Black hair takes. We wanted to remind the world that much like wool, our hair is strong, resilient, and luxurious. Our products even consider how WE wear our hair. From our scalp-targeting nozzles to our rich conditioner, we wanted to offer a product line that was practical. We'll help you navigate those parts, restore moisture after a silk press, and cleanse that scalp when you left those braids in just a tad too long.
While we use many high-quality ingredients in each of our products, they are not "all" natural. To ensure the safety and stability of our products, we sparingly and responsibly use synthetics that are either naturally-derived or have benefits that cannot be replicated with a natural ingredient.
We believe that the curl of your hair has less to do with WHAT you put in it and more to do with HOW you apply it. We don't care if your hair is 3C, 4C, or LMNOP. We'll help you take care of it.
All of them! The best thing about our products is the ALL contribute to a healthy hair and scalp. Ready to try them all? Check out our Self Care for your Hair care kit.
Because "clean" is not a regulated term (yet) here in the U.S., many health-conscious brands and retailers have created their own standards to identify products that are safer. For example, the use of silicones, parabens, and artificial fragrance are commonly found on these lists. We WÜL Haircare, we take it a step further and also omit dyes, mineral oil, phthalates, and sulfates from all of our products.
While the beauty industry tends to market to women, haircare really is part cosmetic and part HYGIENE. It's important that EVERYONE invests in high-quality products and a simple (yet effective) routine. ALL of our products are safe for ALL of us to use.
ABSOLUTELY! Our founder, Riss, is now loc'd and uses only WÜL Haircare products to maintain them. Our products are light enough to prevent buildup but effective enough to provide adequate nourishment.
There is so much on the market to help us hold, control, and shape-shift our tresses to oblivion. It is so easy to be consumed by how the hair LOOKS, so we intentionally set out to make sure it's healthy first. Get your base routine down first, and then add your own swag to the final result.
When you consider the styling products, sweat, and dead skin that builds up over time, we recommend giving your hair and scalp a good cleanser at least one per week or every two weeks. This allows you to not only give your hair and nice gulp of water but also prevents buildup issues (which can lead to itching and scalp irritation).
RESET's water-like consistency ensures the cleanser gets right where you need it and rinses with ease. It still lathers like a dream, giving you that cushiony sensation you're used to.
Which the rich, high-slip conditioner might be tempted to use as a co-wash, we do NOT recommend it. Hair needs to be properly cleansed to avoid product and bacteria buildup. We know you've probably been told that cleansing can be drying, but give our RESET a try. Follow up with REPLENISH and your hair will LOVE you for it.
